Koka – Big Square Style
Wooden Sunglasses from our friends in East Java, Indonesia. The sunglasses are made from recycled furniture wood and 100% handmade. These sunnies look great and are unique in the way that they have minor imperfections and flaws from being handcrafted. Some of the imperfections may include alignment and markings (that are no different to your pre-loved sunglasses after a few months) but carry with it a true sign of originality and individuality as no pair is identical.
Each pair comes in an environmentally friendly cardboard box case and an Indonesian textile material ‘Batik” soft case.
The story of these sunglasses is very special as the workers for these products are ex drug addicts taking this venture to re-create themselves in a land where there are no second chances for fallen drug users. The workshop is based in Java near Malang and the workers in this NGO (Non – Government Organisation) spend their days designing and making these sunglasses to make a living, as there is no employment options for having a criminal record. Your purchase will be supporting these kind hearted people trying to find a new path.
